Support from Various Parties Strengthens Indonesia’s Readiness to Host the 19th Session of the OIC Parliament

Jakarta — Indonesia continues to establish itself as the host of the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) which will be held on 12–15 May 2025 in Jakarta. Carrying the theme “PUIC Silver Jubilee – Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience”, this forum marks a quarter century of PUIC’s journey and is an important stage to strengthen solidarity between Islamic countries in responding to global challenges.

Various stakeholders from across sectors have shown real commitment in supporting the smooth running and success of this event. Legislative institutions, related ministries, security forces, and various other supporting institutions work together to ensure technical, logistical, and security readiness during the session.

Member of the BKSAP DPR RI, Eva Monalisa, said that the 19th PUIC Session will be a strategic momentum to strengthen support for Palestinian independence and promote the collective agenda of Muslims.

“Some notes that may be of concern to all of us, especially for BKSAP, are how to continue strategic negotiations for Palestinian independence,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Asia Group Meeting at the 18th PUIC Conference held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Fadli Zon, added that PUIC is a very important inter-parliamentary collaboration platform in advocating for the main issues of the Muslim community.

“This PUIC Forum is a strategic stage for Indonesian parliamentary diplomacy at the global level. We build close collaboration with the parliaments of Islamic countries to fight for the issues of the community, including real support for Palestine,” said Fadli Zon, who currently serves as the Indonesian Minister of Culture.

In terms of implementation readiness, the Chair of the BKSAP DPR RI, Mardani Ali Sera, ensured that all technical aspects had been handled carefully.

“We ensure that the meeting facilities, delegation accommodation, and security are in accordance with international standards. Coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and security forces continues to be carried out intensively,” he explained.

In addition, the TNI and Polri have prepared an integrated security system with a preventive and responsive approach to ensure the comfort of all delegates. Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya have put personnel on standby at strategic locations and strengthened cross-sector coordination to anticipate any potential security disturbances.

On the other hand, PT PLN (Persero) also secured the electricity supply during the event, including providing backup generators at all venues and delegate hotels to ensure that there were no power outages. The DKI Jakarta Health Office together with the Ministry of Health have also prepared medical teams and ambulances at various points, including monitoring health protocols for state guests.

Technical support also came from other agencies such as Telkom and Kominfo which guaranteed the stability of internet connections and communication systems during the forum. This readiness confirms that Indonesia is not only technically ready, but also shows diplomatic sincerity in building a positive image in the eyes of the Islamic world.

With full synergy across sectors, the 19th PUIC Session is expected to be able to produce strategic decisions that strengthen cooperation between parliaments of Islamic countries and make real contributions to peace, justice, and the welfare of Muslims throughout the world.
