Layoff Task Force is a Form of Government Concern, Encouraging New Jobs on an Ongoing Basis

Jakarta — The government is swiftly and with full commitment finalizing the formation of the Termination of Employment Task Force (Satgas PHK) as part of President Prabowo Subianto’s strategic steps in responding to national employment challenges. This task force will not only be tasked with responding to layoffs, but also encouraging the creation of new jobs widely and sustainably, as real evidence of the state’s commitment to the people.

The Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, emphasized that the PHK Task Force will be the government’s vanguard in protecting Indonesian workers. The role of the Task Force will start from the prevention stage to post-layoff recovery, creating a safe, productive, and inclusive work ecosystem.

“Our hope is that this Task Force will not only function after layoffs occur, but also have a role upstream. Anticipation and certainty of expanding employment opportunities are one of the main focuses going forward,” said Yassierli.

The statement emphasizes the government’s commitment to providing comprehensive protection for workers and providing new workspaces that are adaptive to changing times.

Currently, the draft for the formation of the Task Force has entered the finalization stage, and the government is proactively awaiting direction from President Prabowo Subianto to determine the most effective form of regulation, both Presidential Decree (Keppres) and Presidential Instruction (Inpres). This shows that coordination between ministries is solid and focused, under the direct direction of the President.

Although data from the Ministry of Manpower recorded that 24,036 workers were affected by layoffs until April 23, 2025, the government did not remain silent. This figure is actually the basis for making policies based on data, showing the government’s fast and appropriate response.

Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security for Workers Indah Anggoro Putri, said that the supporting regulations for the Task Force are being refined to reflect the government’s major mission in maintaining workforce stability.

“The official name of the Task Force can still be adjusted, so that it truly reflects its active role in encouraging workforce transformation,” said Indah.

Not only that, the strategic steps prepared by the government include the preparation of a layoff risk map, synchronization of data between ministries, and strengthening coordination with local governments. This shows that the government is working in a structured and collaborative manner in overseeing employment stability.

In addition, Government Regulation Number 6 of 2025 which increases the benefits of the Job Loss Guarantee program is proof that the state is present with real protection. Vocational training, job vacancy information, and entrepreneurship assistance show the government’s commitment to opening new paths for every citizen to rise and be empowered.

With these progressive steps, the Layoff Task Force will be a comprehensive solution and a reflection of the government’s leadership success in managing the dynamics of national employment.

This initiative also confirms that under President Prabowo’s leadership, Indonesia is on the right track towards justice and prosperity for all workers.
