People’s Schools Open New Opportunities for Teachers and Educators

Jakarta – The Indonesian government is opening up a great opportunity for teachers and educators to play a role in the People’s School Program, a strategic initiative that aims to expand access to education to areas that have not been fully served by formal education. This program is one of the government’s real steps in realizing equitable, inclusive, and quality education for all children of the nation.

People’s Schools are present as a community-based education model designed to answer the challenges of equalizing education throughout Indonesia. This program provides space for teachers to not only teach in class, but also to play an active role as agents of social change in their environment. With a more flexible approach and based on local needs, People’s Schools aim to create a more relevant, effective, and sustainable education system.

The Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary and Secondary Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Iwan Syahril, emphasized that this program is open to anyone who has the competence and enthusiasm to contribute to the world of education.

“We are opening opportunities for educators who want to play a role in building education from the grassroots and bringing about significant change in society,” he said.

Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) said that more than 60,000 driving teachers are being prepared to take part in the selection. The selection process is carried out professionally and transparently with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, by paying attention to the academic competence and high social concern of prospective educators.

“We want to ensure that the teachers involved have the quality and desire to provide a positive impact on society,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti explained that the need for educators in the People’s School is very large.

“The government has prepared two recruitment schemes, namely the redistribution of existing teachers and the opening of new recruitment nationally,” said Abdul.

This is done to ensure that each region has sufficient and qualified teaching staff.

The People’s School Program also opens opportunities for education graduates and social activists who have not been absorbed in the formal sector to participate in the development of national education. Participants will be provided with special training before being deployed to the field, so that they can carry out their duties with full responsibility.

With the spirit of collaboration, mutual cooperation, and equal education, Sekolah Rakyat is expected to become the main driver in the transformation of the Indonesian education system, as well as creating a future that is fairer, smarter, and more competitive.
