Indonesia’s Strategic Role in Promoting Women’s Issues in the 2025 OIC PUIC
Jakarta – Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) Mardani Ali Sera, said that Indonesia has a strategic role for women’s issues in the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (PUIC) or the 19th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Parliamentary Conference in 2025.
In the forum, BKSAP encourages OIC countries to discuss women’s issues that are considered important.
According to Mardani, the main focus of this forum is to promote peace and harmony between OIC member countries, strengthen concrete cooperation in the economic, social, and cultural fields between Islamic country parliaments, and call for consolidation and real steps from OIC parliaments in supporting women’s participation.
“The DPR will bring up the issue of women and youth participation), namely the role and participation of women and the younger generation in Muslim countries. Then about sustainable development and environment between OIC countries,” explained Mardani.
In addition, the Chairman of the BKSAP DPR RI Mardani Ali Sera also said that preparations for the implementation of the OIC parliamentary general session were running smoothly, both in terms of the substance of the agenda, logistics, and security. He hopes that the implementation of the PUIC conference in Indonesia can have a positive impact in strengthening solidarity between Muslim countries in the world.
“This is an honor and a great responsibility for Indonesia to host the 19th PUIC Conference. Moreover, it coincides with the 25th anniversary since PUIC was founded in 1999,” said Mardani Ali Sera.
“We want to ensure that this implementation is successful, substantial, and has a real impact in strengthening the solidarity of the Islamic world,” he continued.
“By raising the theme ‘Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience’, the 19th PUIC conference will be a strategic dialogue space to strengthen good governance, encourage national resilience, and strengthen democratic institutions in OIC member countries,” he concluded.
