At the 2025 PUIC Session, the Indonesian House of Representatives Strengthens Bilateral Relations of OIC Member States Parliaments

Jakarta – The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) acts as the organizer of the 19th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference. The international meeting took place at the DPR Building complex in the Senayan area, Jakarta.

On the sidelines of the PUIC session, the Indonesian House of Representatives had the opportunity to hold a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the parliaments of other OIC countries.

The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that this opportunity was not only a matter of pride from an administrative perspective.

“The holding of the general session of the OIC member states parliament is not merely an administrative honor, but is a strategic momentum for Indonesia to reaffirm its role as the driving force of democratic, inclusive, and solution-oriented Islamic world diplomacy,” said Puan.

According to Puan, through dialogue and togetherness, people’s representatives are invited to play an active role in creating a peaceful, prosperous, and civilized future, not only for their respective people, but also for humanity at large.

“The Indonesian House of Representatives is committed to directing the PUIC discussion towards concrete solutions to address the multidimensional crisis faced by many OIC member countries,” she said.

The Chairperson of the DPR RI Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Mardani Ali Sera, assessed that it is very important to build a strong, transparent, and accountable institution amidst current global challenges, ranging from geopolitical tensions, climate change, to economic uncertainty.

“The importance of strengthening cooperation between PUIC member countries in building a peaceful and just future for Islamic countries,” said Mardani.

The 19th PUIC session carries the main theme “PUIC Silver Jubilee – Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience”, which is based on the hope that OIC member countries will focus on building institutional strength and good governance.

This session is a great opportunity for Indonesia to show the potential contribution of Indonesian Muslims in building global peace and prosperity, through strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Indonesia, as the host of the 19th PUIC Session, strengthens solid cooperation among Islamic countries as a new force to fight for global justice.
