Attending the 2025 PUIC Conference, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Invites Delegates to Strengthen Friendship Between Countries
Jakarta – The 19th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) in Indonesia which took place on 12-15 May 2025, was attended by delegates from various OIC countries and observer countries.
In her remarks at the 2025 PUIC Delegation Cultural Dinner, Sunday (11/5), the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani said that Indonesia as the host of the 19th PUIC felt very honored to receive the arrival of delegates from various friendly countries. According to her, as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, Indonesia is proud to be able to host the very strategic 19th PUIC conference.
“It is a great honor for me to welcome you all to the National Museum of Indonesia tonight. As we gather in this iconic institution, surrounded by the rich history and culture of our nation, I am reminded of the power of diversity and the importance of cultural exchange,” said Puan.
Puan said that the PUIC Conference was important to build cooperation and collaboration between nations. She emphasized that the DPR has a great responsibility to help shape the future direction of the nation, especially in facing all existing challenges.
Furthermore, Puan also touched on the importance of fighting for peace and harmony between nations. On this occasion, she also invited the delegates to use the OIC parliamentary conference in the DPR as a means of mutual learning and strengthening friendship between countries, especially since the event in Indonesia coincided with the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of PUIC since its establishment in 1999.
“Let us work together to advance peace, prosperity, and progress for all humanity,” Puan invited.
Previously, the Chairperson of the DPR RI Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Mardani Ali Sera, said that the presence of the delegates reflected PUIC’s commitment to continue to actively contribute to international forums and strengthen cooperation between OIC member countries.
This conference is the 19th PUIC event and is a special moment because it coincides with the 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) of the founding of PUIC since it was first held in 1999.
Carrying the theme “PUIC Silver Jubilee – Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillar of Resilience” is a mainstay in the entire series of the 19th PUIC conference. The theme reflects the commitment of OIC member countries to strengthen national and collective resilience through transparent, participatory, and integrity-based governance.
