Eradicating corruption is still a top priority in building clean, effective, and integrated governance in Indonesia. In the midst of efforts to strengthen the bureaucracy and improve public services, synergy between agencies is an important element in optimizing anti-corruption strategies. In this context, the collaboration between the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (KemenPANRB) and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) marks the strengthening of the government’s collective commitment to presenting a transparent and accountable government.
As the driving force of national bureaucratic reform, KemenPANRB has a strategic role in encouraging governance that is free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism. The support provided by KemenPANRB for strengthening the KPK institution shows that corruption eradication cannot be carried out sectorally, but must be through a coordinated cross-sectoral approach. Minister of PANRB Rini Widyantini, during an audience with the KPK leadership, emphasized her party’s readiness to collaborate in supporting the KPK in carrying out its duties and functions in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
Rini assessed that the KPK has a central role in the national corruption eradication process. Therefore, the Ministry of PANRB is ready to provide support according to its authority, including in the form of strategic input and strengthening the institutional system, to ensure that the KPK can carry out its supervisory and enforcement roles optimally. This view reflects the integrative spirit needed to create a sustainable anti-corruption government system.
As a concrete implementation of this commitment, the Ministry of PANRB continues to push the bureaucratic reform and digital transformation agenda to close the space for budget irregularities in the bureaucratic environment. The government has utilized the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) to increase transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public services. This system minimizes direct contact between service providers and service recipients, so that the risk of extortion and gratification practices can be significantly reduced.
The government’s commitment to eradicating corruption is also reflected in the direction of development policies outlined in Astacita. One of the main points in the document is the strengthening of political, legal, and bureaucratic reforms, as well as the eradication of corruption and drugs. This is an affirmation that anti-corruption is not only a sectoral agenda, but part of a broader national development strategy. In this spirit, the Ministry of PANRB is actively involved in the preparation of regulations and policies that encourage a culture of integrity in the public sector.
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto on the same occasion expressed his appreciation for the support provided by KemenPANRB and assessed that the synergy that has been established is an important foundation for the effectiveness of the implementation of corruption eradication tasks. According to him, this harmonious institutional relationship must continue to be strengthened so that the KPK can work more efficiently and responsively in carrying out its constitutional mandate.
Setyo emphasized that eradicating corruption is a joint effort that requires the involvement of all elements of government. The KPK cannot work alone in facing increasingly complex challenges, especially amidst efforts to increase development and increasingly large budget allocations in various sectors. Therefore, the collaboration built with KemenPANRB is expected to be an example of effective and results-oriented inter-institutional synergy.
Moreover, KemenPANRB’s support for strengthening the KPK institution reflects the understanding that the success of eradicating corruption is highly dependent on healthy and professional bureaucratic governance. Reform within the bureaucracy is the gateway to building a solid foundation in preventing and prosecuting corrupt practices within the government.
In practice, this effort must also be strengthened by increasing the capacity of human resources, implementing a merit system, and monitoring based on information technology. KemenPANRB has an important role in ensuring that every ASN works based on the principles of integrity, accountability, and excellent public service. Anti-corruption training, increasing digital literacy, and periodic evaluation of bureaucratic performance are inseparable parts of the grand strategy of bureaucratic reform.
