Revote Shows Commitment to Quality Democracy

JAKARTA – The implementation of the Revote (PSU) is real evidence of the government’s commitment to maintaining the quality of democracy.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya Sugiarto, emphasized the importance of a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the PSU in order to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He said that election governance must be improved from the start so as not to create legal loopholes that lead to disputes in the Constitutional Court.

“This PSU must be evaluated fundamentally, so that there is no potential for lawsuits to arise in the future. The key is political commitment without intervention,” said Bima.

He added that the implementation of the PSU was also influenced by a strong political atmosphere.

Therefore, all parties are asked to maintain neutrality to ensure the integrity of the democratic process.

Together with Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, Bima is also directly involved in monitoring the PSU in the regions with support from the Directorate General of Regional Autonomy and the Directorate General of Keuda for budget efficiency.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk emphasized that the PSU is a real manifestation of the government’s commitment to ensuring that democracy runs fairly, openly, and accountably.

She asked all parties to ensure that there are no obstacles in the implementation of the PSU and appreciated the parties who have worked hard to prepare for the re-election.

“The PSU must run smoothly and not be colored by non-essential findings. This must be an important lesson for all of us for future improvements,” said Ribka.

In Mahakam Ulu, East Kalimantan, the PSU is an important test in the consolidation of democracy in the border region.

The Mahakam Ulu Bawaslu stated its readiness to oversee all stages of the PSU to prevent repeated violations.

Member of the Indonesian Bawaslu, Totok Hariyono, appreciated the readiness of the regional Bawaslu ranks and emphasized the importance of upholding the rules.

“Comprehensive supervision is absolutely necessary to ensure transparency and accountability,” said Totok.

He also emphasized the importance of close cooperation with security forces to maintain a conducive situation.

According to him, this PSU is a process of democratic maturity that must be utilized to improve the shortcomings in the previous election.

With active community involvement, strict monitoring by supervisory institutions, and full government support, the PSU is expected to be a benchmark for the implementation of elections that are more qualified and have integrity in the future.
