ASN Monitors the Success of MBG for Millions of Indonesian Children

Jakarta – Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), Rini Widyantini, emphasized that the acceleration of recruitment of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) for the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is a crucial step in accelerating the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) which is a national priority program.

“Fulfilling the needs of ASN at the National Nutrition Agency is a strategic step to support the success of the MBG Program,” said Rini.

Rini said that through the formation and strengthening of BGN, all lines of program implementation, from food distribution to reporting and evaluation, can run more systematically.

“There are several issues that must be orchestrated well, especially in terms of human resources, governance, and building its digitalization,” continued Rini.

The Ministry of PANRB, continued Rini, has prepared a strategy through the arrangement of formation, recruitment, and redistribution of ASN effectively and efficiently so that BGN can immediately function optimally. This effort is also strengthened by mapping business processes and relationships between ministries, institutions, and regional governments (K/L/D) so that coordination of program implementation does not overlap.

“Two important targets must be achieved, namely clarity of beneficiaries and good governance so that they can be included in the Presidential Instruction and Presidential Regulation. Internal and external governance are very important, starting from policies at the central level to transparent implementation in the field,” he said.

Rini also highlighted the need to build a digital government architecture that supports business processes, HR management, and integrated public services to support MBG. This includes a beneficiary data information system, real-time reporting, and a reliable monitoring system.

The government projects that the program, which is targeted to reach 82.9 million beneficiaries, will not only have an impact on reducing stunting rates, but also on improving the quality of Indonesian human resources and encouraging national economic growth through job creation in the nutritious food and logistics sectors.

Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan, in the same meeting also emphasized the government’s commitment to making MBG a foundation towards the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. According to him, the Presidential Regulation on MBG will later regulate five important aspects, namely monitoring and evaluation, reporting, coordination teams, the role of regional governments, and funding.

“In conclusion, we decided that there should be a team from the relevant ministries to prepare the materials for the Presidential Regulation or Presidential Instruction. This must be done immediately,” said Zulkifli.

Through the acceleration of ASN recruitment and the readiness of the BGN institutional structure, it is hoped that the MBG Program can be implemented massively and on target throughout Indonesia.
