JAKARTA — Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives Mardani Ali Sera emphasized that
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the opening of the 19th Conference of the Union of Parliaments of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/5/2025).
“Mr. Prabowo, God willing, will confirm that he will attend, of course accompanied by Mbak Puan as the host,” explained the Chairman of BKSAP.
Prabowo’s presence in the parliamentary forum of Islamic countries is an important symbol of Indonesia’s commitment to global peace and inclusive governance.
The 19th PUIC Conference, which will take place on 12–15 May 2025, carries the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience” and will be attended by around 450 parliamentarians from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). President Prabowo is scheduled to deliver an opening speech full of messages about peace and shared prosperity.
“The message is the same, Indonesia is ready to be a country that is a bridge for all, towards shared prosperity, shared peace,” said Mardani.
In the context of global leadership, Prabowo’s presence shows Indonesia’s active role in creating constructive dialogue between Islamic countries, including as a facilitator for resolving regional conflicts.
This was also emphasized by Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Junico Siahaan, who stated that Indonesia is expected to play a role in bridging the conflict between India and Pakistan.
“Indonesia can play a role in bridging the conflict between these two countries, especially since Indonesia has good relations with Pakistan and India,” said Nico.
In addition to the issue of peace, this forum also discussed strengthening the role of women and youth in good governance, reflecting Indonesia’s spirit in encouraging inclusivity and sustainable development in the Islamic world.*
