Support for President Prabowo’s Plan to Eliminate Outsourcing Continues to Expand
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto’s plan to eliminate the outsourcing system has received a positive response from various groups, especially labor unions and members of parliament.
President of the Indonesian Trade Union Association (Aspirasi), Mirah Sumirat, highlighted that the current outsourcing practice has deviated from the initial rules in Law Number 13 of 2003.
“Law Number 13 of 2003 contains an article related to outsourcing. It states more or less that there are only five types of work that can be outsourced. Namely security, mining, cleaning, driver, and catering.” He said
He also regretted the change in the rules that expanded the types of outsourcing work.
“Outsourcing has been changed to outsourcing. Actually it’s the same, just a change of name, only now it is given to all types of work,” he explained.
Mirah also highlighted the layered practices between companies that are detrimental to workers, ranging from wage cuts to loss of access to social security.
Meanwhile, the President of the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPN), Ristadi, also voiced his objections.
“The reason we reject the outsourcing system is that workers do not have a direct working relationship with their employers, so if there is a work accident or something else, they do not receive protection from their employers directly,” he said.
In a separate location, Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the DPR Charles Honoris also welcomed President Prabowo’s intentions.
“We welcome the president’s commitment to voice his intention to eliminate the outsourcing system, as long as it aims to protect job security and the welfare of workers in Indonesia. This is in line with the aspirations voiced by labor groups,” he said.
With the support of labor unions and parliament, the discourse on eliminating outsourcing is getting stronger as a strategic step to improve the national employment system.
