2,818 Joint Personnel Secure the 19th PUIC Session in Jakarta

Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya deployed 2,818 joint personnel to secure the implementation of the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Parliamentary Union of the OIC/PUIC) which will take place on 12-15 May 2025 at the DPR/MPR RI Building, Jakarta.

This activity is an important momentum because it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the founding of PUIC since its establishment in 1999.

“For the activity on Wednesday, 14 May 2025, Polda Metro Jaya deployed 2,818 joint personnel who were placed at the DPR/MPR RI Building and several hotels in Jakarta,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (14/5).

Ade Ary explained that the thousands of security personnel consisted of various elements. From the National Police Headquarters as many as 108 personnel, from the Brimob Corps as many as 200 personnel, from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government as many as 38 personnel, and from the Regional Task Force (Satgasda) as many as 2,472 personnel.

“The purpose of deploying these security forces is to ensure security, order and smoothness during the implementation of the PUIC Session and a series of related activities,” he explained.

The 19th PUIC Session carries the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience”. This event was attended by around 500 participants from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), including observer countries.

The presence of delegates from various countries emphasized the importance of Indonesia’s position as a host and strategic partner in relations between parliaments of Islamic countries.

In order to support the smooth running of the event, the public is urged to help maintain the security and public order situation (kamtibmas).

Senior Commissioner Ade Ary reminded the public not to be easily provoked by misleading issues and to continue to demonstrate a mature attitude during the international activity.

“In addition, the public is urged to avoid the DPR/MPR RI Building area which is the location of the activity in order to reduce traffic congestion,” he said.

For the public who want to convey their aspirations in public spaces, they must do so peacefully and in accordance with applicable regulations. This is important to maintain the smooth running of the entire session agenda and respect the presence of state guests.

“We invite all elements of society to jointly maintain Indonesia’s good name in the eyes of the world by demonstrating maturity and order in community life, especially during this international activity,” added Ade Ary.

With optimal security and support from the public, Indonesia is expected to be able to demonstrate its ability as a good host while strengthening cooperation between OIC member countries through the PUIC parliamentary forum.

This session is also an important event to strengthen democratic institutions and good governance in Islamic countries.
