President Prabowo Affirms Indonesia’s Commitment to Strengthening the Islamic World at the 19th PUIC Inauguration

Jakarta — The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, affirmed Indonesia’s strong commitment to strengthening the solidarity of the Islamic world and building a better Islamic civilization in the future. He conveyed this in his opening speech at the 19th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) held in Jakarta.

In the forum attended by representatives of parliaments of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the trust given to Indonesia as the host, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the founding of PUIC.

“This association of Islamic parliaments was born from a shared awareness that the Islamic world needs a forum for togetherness between legislative institutions in facing global challenges and defending the interests of Muslims throughout the world,” said President Prabowo.

He also emphasized Indonesia’s consistent position in supporting the Palestinian struggle. According to him, support for Palestine is not only a political stance, but also a moral and humanitarian calling.

“Indonesia will continue to stand with Palestine. This struggle will be stronger if we, the Islamic world, are able to unite. Let us overcome differences and focus on the safety of Muslims and the future of Islamic civilization,” he said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also explained the Indonesian Government’s major agenda to strengthen the national foundation, as a real contribution to global stability. The agenda includes political and bureaucratic reform, human resource development, food and energy self-sufficiency, and mastery of science and technology.

“We believe that the solution to various world problems starts from our own nation. Therefore, we are committed to carrying out a major transformation for a more independent and sovereign future,” said the President.

On the same occasion, the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives and Chair of the 19th PUIC General Assembly, Puan Maharani, emphasized the importance of the strategic role of PUIC in forming a more just and inclusive world order.

“For 25 years, PUIC’s role has been determined by our achievements and the direction we take going forward. Let us make this forum to strengthen PUIC’s role and determine the direction of change for the better in the world, togetherness is the main foundation of the strength of the Islamic world,” said Puan.

The inauguration of the 19th PUIC is an important momentum for Indonesia to affirm its strategic position as the largest democratic country in the Islamic world that is ready to actively contribute to strengthening solidarity between Muslim countries and collectively responding to global challenges.

With the spirit of togetherness, President Prabowo called for the Islamic world to unite, strengthen each other, and become a positive force in creating global peace and justice.
