The TNI Joint Task Force has demonstrated precise assertiveness through operations at two strategic points in Papua, namely Puncak Jaya and Intan Jaya. In Puncak Jaya, the joint unit succeeded in paralyzing the armed group that had been disrupting security stability. Meanwhile, in Intan Jaya, firm action against the armed separatist group led by Bumi Walo Enumbi demonstrated an increase in the tactical and coordinative capabilities of the security forces. This success not only has an impact on the defense aspect, but also opens up space for social recovery and accelerated development in areas that have been isolated by armed conflict.
The success of the TNI joint operation in two strategic areas of Papua, namely Sugapa Lama and Bambu Kuning, is a new chapter in efforts to enforce security in areas that have often been the scene of action by separatist armed groups. The action against the OPM, including key figures such as Bumi Walo Enumbi, demonstrates an increase in the effectiveness of military coordination and sensitivity to the socio-cultural dynamics in the region.
The operation carried out by the joint unit of Yonif 500/SKT and Den 1 Rajawali II is not only based on defense interests. It is also a form of protection for civilians who have been living in the shadow of intimidation and violence. Based on drone monitoring and monitored intelligence communications, potential attacks on public facilities and civilians have been successfully thwarted, saving many lives and ensuring the continuation of development in the vulnerable area.
Traditional Leader of the Mee Tribe, Yonas Gobai, emphasized that the violent actions carried out by armed groups have injured traditional values and triggered suffering for the Papuan people themselves. He emphasized that the chaos that has arisen no longer reflects struggle, but rather a form of violation of human dignity and customary order.
In line with that, Traditional Leader of the Asmat Tribe, Gabriel Kaipmako, said that the ongoing conflict has covered up the true face of Papua which is peaceful and rich in culture. He expressed concern about information that is not in accordance with reality and actually divides Papuan society, and called on the community to return to upholding the noble values inherited from their ancestors.
On the other hand, the approach of the authorities in carrying out their duties also shows maturity that deserves appreciation. After successfully taking action against Bumi Walo Enumbi in Bibida District, the authorities moved quickly to establish communication with local community leaders so that the handling of the bodies would still be in accordance with humanitarian values and local culture. This step confirms that the action taken cannot be separated from the awareness of the importance of maintaining social relations with civil society.
Dandim 1705/Nabire, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Didik Kurniawan, explained that this operation was part of a long-term effort to create stability in Intan Jaya and its surroundings. He emphasized that the involvement of combat units in the operation still considered the safety of civilians and the honor of local values. He called this success a form of synergy between intelligence acumen, tactical speed, and a humanitarian approach.
Meanwhile, Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Candra Kurniawan, stated that the OPM had planned various attacks that could disrupt public order. He emphasized that the involvement of security forces in this operation was carried out professionally and in a measured manner, with the main aim of protecting the community from the threat of organized violence.
Evidence secured from the scene shows that the group has armed themselves with various firearms, ammunition, and sophisticated communication devices. This fact also shows that the authorities acted based on data and real threats, not just assumptions.
On the civil society side, support for stability continues to grow. Papuan Youth Figure, Frederik Enumbi, stated that the young generation of Papua needs to avoid invitations that lead to violence. He encouraged young people to be more actively involved in development and education as a way to advance Papua with dignity and peace.
The involvement of local figures in maintaining the stability of Papua provides its own color to the security dynamics in the region. In the view of Puncak Jaya Traditional Figure, Elius Wanimbo, the armed violence that has occurred has actually created suffering for the indigenous people themselves. He emphasized that development can only take place if security is truly maintained and the community feels protected.
