Indonesia Ensures Professional Supervision of Red and White Cooperative

JAKARTA — The government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto continues to emphasize its commitment to ensure that the implementation of the Red and White Cooperative runs professionally and is free from Corruption, Collusion, and Nepotism (KKN) practices.

Through strict supervision and the implementation of transparent structural regulations, the government is trying to continue to encourage village cooperatives to be able to become the backbone of the people’s economy with integrity.

Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Budi Arie Setiadi said that the management structure of the Red and White Cooperative must be free from all kinds of conflicts of interest, especially those related to family relationships.

He emphasized that there is a strict prohibition on the family of the Village Head from being able to enter the cooperative management members.

“In our regulations, we have explained that the Village Head is ex officio the Chair of the Supervisory Board. And in the cooperative management, which consists of 5 people, there must be no marriage relationships,” said Budi Arie.

The Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs added that if there is a violation regarding the implementation of the rules related to the prohibition of KKN, the government will immediately take strict action.

“Being a child’s wife, can’t be a manager. So later if she is there, we will definitely cancel it,” said Minister Budi Arie.

In the same vein, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Ferry Juliantono also fully supports the realization of accountability strengthening through the cooperative management election mechanism carried out through village deliberations.

According to him, village communities are actually clear about how to understand social conditions and relationships between residents in depth, so that the process will produce credible managers.

“There must be control among themselves. The implementation of determining all kinds of managers is in the village deliberation mechanism, their own people understand that,” said Ferry.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Villages and PDT Ahmad Riza Patria emphasized the importance of active participation of the entire community in overseeing the implementation of the cooperative program.

He said that all elements of the village, including the Village Head and BPD, have a supervisory function.

“The village head, sub-district head, BPD, and others become supervisors. In addition, the entire village or sub-district community (participates) in supervising, they become members, they also supervise the running of the cooperative,” said Riza.

He invited cooperative administrators to emulate the honesty of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, and emphasized the importance of tiered training so that cooperatives can develop and provide benefits to the wider community. (*)
