President Prabowo Encourages Judges’ Professionalism through New Incentives

Jakarta – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially announced a 280 percent increase in judges’ salaries while attending the 2025 Inauguration of Supreme Court Judges in Jakarta.

This increase is said to be an effort to improve the welfare of judges and strengthen professionalism in law enforcement.

“I, Prabowo Subianto, the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, announce today that judges’ salaries will be increased for the welfare of judges, with varying levels of increase according to class. The highest increase reaches 280 percent,” said the President.

This step has received support from the Indonesian House of Representatives. Member of Commission III of the DPR, Stevano Elias, expressed his appreciation for the President’s decision which is considered a form of serious attention to improving the national legal system.

“As a member of the Legal Commission, I note that our President always pays special attention to improving the face of Indonesian law for the sake of certainty, justice, and benefit,” he said.

According to Stevano, the decision to increase judges’ salaries in the midst of a budget efficiency policy is a bold step that shows that the law is indeed placed as the commander.

He said that this decision was a historic moment that answered the hopes of judges after years of waiting for change.

“This increase in judges’ salaries is very significant because it concerns the independence and professionalism of the judicial institution. This is truly a breath of fresh air for our criminal justice system,” said the legislator from Electoral District NTT II.

Stevano hopes that this increase will be accompanied by an increase in the performance of judges. He emphasized the importance of integrity and a sense of justice in every decision, as well as encouraging ongoing reform in case management.

Similar support was conveyed by Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dede Indra Permana. He considered this policy to show the President’s commitment to creating a legal system that is free from corruption.

“The President’s decision to increase judges’ salaries is not an easy decision, especially in a situation of budget efficiency. But he chose to prioritize improving the law that is clean and has integrity,” he said.

Dede added that the welfare of judges is the key to them focusing on enforcing the law without being tempted by deviations.

“The end of law enforcement is in the hands of judges. So it is important for the state to ensure that they work professionally and independently,” he said.

He also encouraged the judiciary to continue to reform and innovate to improve case management, in order to create more equitable justice throughout Indonesia. *
