Danantara Partners with JBIC to Finance Indonesia’s Green Energy Projects
Jakarta – Danantara Indonesia continues to strengthen its strategic role in supporting the clean energy transition in Indonesia.
The state investment institution officially established a partnership with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in early July 2025.
This collaboration opens up opportunities for financing large-scale sustainable projects across various sectors.
Danantara Indonesia CEO, Rosan Roeslani, emphasized the importance of this partnership for the sustainability of national development.
“This partnership with JBIC is a strong signal of global confidence in Indonesia’s green development direction,” said Rosan.
He added that Danantara is committed to mobilizing strategic capital that not only supports national priorities but also meets global sustainability and governance standards.
In the MoU, both parties agreed to identify and develop priority projects in the areas of decarbonization and the circular economy.
Projects to be focused on include renewable energy, electricity transmission, water and waste management, green data centers, and healthcare.
This collaboration also opens access to various financial instruments, including loans, equity, guarantees, and other specialized financing solutions.
Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer, Pandu Sjahrir, revealed that his company has prepared funding to support geothermal expansion in Indonesia.
“If I’m not mistaken, the value is close to US$120 million,” Pandu said.
He explained that the funds will be directed to PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) for the development of strategic projects, including capacity expansion of up to 3 gigawatts.
One of Danantara’s key projects is the 55-megawatt Gunung Tiga Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP), which was recently inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The President emphasized that energy security is an important part of national sovereignty and that Indonesia has great potential to become a leader in the clean energy transition.
With the support of government policies and expanding global cooperation, Danantara is strengthening its position as a key driver of sustainable development and green energy in Indonesia.
