15 Million Indonesian Workers Receive Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU)
Jakarta — The government announced that 15 million workers have received Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) to support workers’ welfare amidst global economic challenges.
The BSU program demonstrates the government’s commitment to protecting workers’ purchasing power and supporting national economic growth. The distribution of this assistance has been carried out in stages, in collaboration with various designated agencies and banking institutions.
The President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Pramudya Iriawan Buntoro, emphasized that all recipient data has undergone a rigorous verification and validation process to ensure that the assistance is properly targeted.
“We carry out the selection process with the principle of prudence. The data we submit to the Ministry of Manpower is data on active participants who truly meet the requirements according to the provisions,” said Pramudya.
He further stated that the BSU not only demonstrates the government’s concern for workers’ welfare but also demonstrates the importance of active participation in the employment social security program.
Furthermore, Pramudya also highlighted the importance of collaboration between institutions, including the Ministry of Manpower, PT Pos Indonesia, and Himbara banks, in ensuring the smooth distribution of aid to remote areas.
“This synergy is key to the program’s success. BSU can only be accessed by workers with active membership and valid data. Therefore, we continue to urge employers to not only register their workers but also ensure that wages and participant status are reported correctly,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Acting President Director of Pos Indonesia, Endy Abdurrahman, stated that during the BSU distribution process, there were no long queues in the field and the entire process was smooth and convenient.
“The main challenge actually lies in obtaining recipient data from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. But we have worked closely to conduct initial screening so that the process at the post office can be efficient,” Endy said.
The government hopes this program will be an effective stimulus to maintain the economic resilience of working families while encouraging domestic consumption growth. Going forward, BSU distribution will continue to be evaluated to ensure its benefits are more targeted and sustainable.
