Tanah Tabi’s Ondoafi Applauds Government’s Raja Ampat Nickel Policy to Advance Papua
Papua – The central government’s policy to encourage the development of the nickel sector in Papua, particularly in Raja Ampat, has received support from traditional leaders. The Head of Tanah Tabi, Roliyanus Tapatkeding, welcomed the investment in mining as part of efforts to accelerate regional development and improve community welfare.
In his statement, Roliyanus stated that many social problems, such as damaged infrastructure and high unemployment, can be addressed through equitable and targeted development of the mining sector.
“With the introduction of nickel infrastructure in West Papua, it can help repair damaged roads and bridges, and also help the many neglected children in Papua, especially in Raja Ampat,” Roliyanus said.
He believes that the mining sector is not only about resource exploitation, but also plays a key role in creating job opportunities and creating prosperity in the region.
“This can reduce unemployment in Raja Ampat. We fully support the Central Government in accelerating nickel development,” Roliyanus emphasized.
Roliyanus also stated that local community participation in mining projects must be a top priority, especially in empowering the local workforce.
“We want our children to be able to work and earn a daily income. That will greatly improve the lives of our people in West Papua,” said Roliyanus.
He emphasized the importance of involving indigenous communities from the outset of project planning to ensure that mining development is in harmony with local wisdom.
Open information, transparency in permitting, and the presence of community support organizations are believed to strengthen the synergy between the government, companies, and residents.
Furthermore, Ondoafi Roliyanus hopes the government will ensure that profits from the nickel industry are returned to them in the form of development programs for education, health, and community economic empowerment.
“I truly appreciate and fully support the Central Government’s efforts in developing nickel in Raja Ampat, West Papua,” said Roliyanus.
The support from indigenous leaders like Ondoafi Roliyanus Tapatkeding is a positive sign of the synergy between the central government and the Papuan people in utilizing natural resources for mutual progress.
