Government Encourages Cross-Sector Collaboration to Ensure Successful Revote
Jakarta – The government, through synergy across ministries, state institutions, and security forces, continues to intensify coordination to ensure the success of the 2025 Regional Election Revote (PSU), which will be held on August 6 in Papua Province, Boven Digoel Regency, and North Barito Regency. This collaboration is a concrete step to ensure that all stages of the election run safely, orderly, and democratically.
The Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam), Lieutenant General (Ret.) Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, conveyed the government’s readiness for the 2025 Revote and Regional Election, which will take place in August 2025.
“Through the Simultaneous Regional Election Coordination Desk, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs will continue to monitor developments and ensure that political and security stability in the regions is maintained through coordination and synchronization of steps with the central government, regional governments, and security forces,” stated Deputy Coordinating Minister Lodewijk.
It is known that the re-vote (PSU) has different characteristics from regular regional elections, requiring an adaptive yet accountable approach. The campaign period will be limited and scheduled, without public meetings, but rather through community dialogue, distribution of campaign materials, and mass media, and will last until August 2, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the General Elections Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI), Mochammad Afifuddin, emphasized the importance of the active role of the community and election supervisors in the regions in preventing violations and maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. According to him, the re-vote (PSU) is not solely the responsibility of the election organizers, but also a moment to demonstrate that democracy can be carried out with dignity by all parties.
“The most crucial thing is to ensure that all voters can exercise their right to vote. We don’t want anything to be obstructed,” he stressed.
The Regent of Jayapura, Dr. Yunus Wonda, appealed to the people of Jayapura Regency to maintain security and public order in their respective areas ahead of the re-vote (PSU) for the Papua Regent Election on August 6, 2025.
“The people of Jayapura Regency must know that both candidates are the best sons of Papua. Whoever is elected is God’s choice,” said Regent Wonda.
The government hopes that all citizens will remain calm, not be easily provoked by negative issues, and exercise their right to vote intelligently. Strong cross-sectoral collaboration is believed to be the main foundation for ensuring the success of the 2025 re-election, while strengthening the spirit of inclusive and civilized democracy.
The success of the re-election is not solely the responsibility of the organizers, but also the result of the active participation of all elements of the nation. With a spirit of unity and shared commitment, the re-election is expected to become an example of peaceful and quality democratic implementation.
