Dr. Dewi Puspitorini, an Inclusive Leader with Humanist Experience, Ready to Lead Alumni Association 2025

Jakarta – The 2025 Alumni Association (ILUNI) election is a crucial moment for the University of Indonesia (UI) alumni community. Amidst the ever-changing dynamics of the times, Dr. Dewi Puspitorini, Sp.P, MARS, brings a fresh vision to make Alumni Association (ILUNI) an alumni organization that is not only united but also empowered on a national and global scale.

With a background as a medical specialist and leader in various organizations, Dr. Dewi emphasized the importance of Alumni Association (ILUNI) transforming adaptively. Alumni Association (ILUNI) must become a collaborative platform capable of harnessing the positive energy of alumni for the advancement of the nation.

“We have great strength across sectors. It’s time for us to synergize more concretely,” said Dr. Dewi.

According to her, future challenges require alumni organizations to function not only as a gathering place but also as a strategic collaboration platform that directly impacts alumni, their alma mater, and the wider community.

“We must be responsive to national and global issues. UI alumni can be catalysts for change on various fronts,” he added.

One concrete example of Dr. Dewi’s compassion and collaboration was evident during the earthquake that struck Cianjur in 2022. In this emergency situation, Dr. Dewi, along with Teams 1 and 2 of the Faculty of Medicine (FKUI) Alumni Association (ILUNI) quickly mobilized to provide medical assistance on the ground. Orthopedic specialists (Sp.OT) and anesthesiologists (Sp.An) performed surgeries at Bhayangkara Cianjur Hospital, while fellow general practitioners provided direct medical services in refugee camps.

This activity also involved FKUI students, who are implementing one of the pillars of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service. For the volunteers, this experience provided valuable momentum in helping the community overcome health problems in the midst of a disaster.

Support for Dr. Dewi’s candidacy continues to grow from various alumni across faculties. The Chairman of the ILUNI Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI), Wawan Mulyawan, views Dr. Dewi as a unifying figure capable of embracing all generations.

“She has a vision and experience relevant to the needs of the alumni organization. Her ability to bridge across faculties is a crucial asset in strengthening the unity of UI alumni,” said Wawan.

Dr. Dewi’s commitment is considered in line with the spirit of national development, which places public participation, including alumni organizations, as a driving force. In this context, ILUNI UI is expected to become a strategic partner for the government in various sectors, from education, health, the environment, to digital transformation.

The General Chair of ILUNI UI for the 2022-2025 period, Didit Ratam, also shared his views on the dynamics of the ILUNI UI election contest next year. He welcomed the presence of seven top UI alumni candidates, including Dr. Dewi, as a demonstration of the organization’s maturity.

“The role of UI alumni must be a catalyst for fellow alumni, the alma mater, the nation, and the state. I hope that what we have done during the 2022-2025 period can be continued and its impact increasingly felt by alumni, the alma mater, and the wider community,” said Didit.

During Didit’s leadership, the UI Alumni Association (ALUNI) has been active in various social, educational, and advocacy initiatives, including strengthening the role of alumni amidst the global crisis. The inclusive and sustainable leadership is expected to maintain this momentum.

Dr. Dewi’s nomination symbolizes the spirit of regeneration and sustainability. In her vision, she emphasized the importance of expanding access and participation for alumni from all backgrounds and making the UI Alumni Association a safe, relevant, and impactful home.
