President Prabowo Invites Religious Leaders, Calls for Peace and Upholding Religious Values
Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto invited 16 religious organizations (ormas) to his residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java. The meeting discussed various national challenges, including strategic steps to maintain a peaceful and conducive situation.
One of the religious leaders in attendance was Nasrullah Larada, Chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Students Association (PII). Other organizations in attendance included Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Council (DDII).
“The meeting with Prabowo is a positive thing and needs to be supported by all elements of the nation to maintain a conducive domestic situation,” said Nasrullah.
According to him, the PII (Indonesian Islamic Scholars Association) believes that dialogue is the best way to resolve all national problems.
Previously, six religious councils and religious organizations in Jakarta issued a statement, one of the points of which called on all religious communities in the Jakarta area to exercise restraint, remain calm, and not be provoked by irresponsible parties.
The point continued, stating that as religious communities, we should uphold religious values and compassion when expressing aspirations and opinions in public, both directly and online.
The statement was signed by KH. Muhammad Faiz Syukron Maknum (Chairman of the Jakarta MUI), KH. Achmad Abubakar (Chairman of the Jakarta Muhammadiyah Executive Board), Rev. Arliyanus Larosa (Chairman of the Jakarta PGI), Mulyadi (Representative of the Indonesian Buddhist Community in Jakarta), and KH. Samsul Ma’arif (Chairman of the Jakarta branch of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Father Antonius Suyadi (Archdiocese of Jakarta) and Father Liem Liliany Lontoh (Chairman of the Jakarta Confucian High Council).
Meanwhile, the General Chair of GPII, Masri Ikoni, emphasized that stability and security are the shared responsibility of every citizen.
“It’s time for all elements of the nation to unite and join hands to protect the country from all forms of division,” he said.
In Semarang, Mayor Agustina invited all Semarang residents to pray together for blessings and security for the capital of Central Java Province.
“Let’s use prayer as a bond of heart, so that we remain harmonious, united, and work together to build this city to become more advanced and prosperous. Let’s keep Semarang safe, peaceful, and conducive amidst this challenging national situation.” “Unity is the key, and peace is the path to prosperity,” said Agustina.
Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto also appealed to the public to maintain peace and a sense of security. He emphasized that the public should not be easily provoked by irresponsible calls. [RWA]
