Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police Affirm Commitment to Stopping All Forms of Anarchy
JAKARTA – The wave of anarchic acts and looting that has occurred in several regions over the past few days has caused public unrest and material losses. President Prabowo Subianto instructed the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri) to remain united, cooperate, and be present to maintain the security and well-being of all Indonesians.
Deputy Chief of the National Police, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, emphasized the TNI and Polri’s commitment to maintaining security and order. He stated that large-scale joint patrols have been conducted in various regions of Indonesia, down to the neighborhood and community unit (RT/RW) levels. This measure is being taken to ensure public safety and prevent anarchy, riots, and looting.
“On the orders of the National Police Chief, I have instructed all Regional Police (Polda) and Resort Police (Polres) to immediately conduct joint patrols with the TNI. There is no room for anarchy or vandalism. Any perpetrators who attempt to loot or damage facilities will be dealt with firmly,” Dedi emphasized.
The Deputy Chief of Police also urged the public to play an active role in protecting their environment by reporting suspicious activity. This step is crucial to protect national symbols, the families of members, prisoners, and dangerous goods from falling into the hands of criminals.
“We cannot work alone. Collaboration between the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), local governments, community leaders, religious leaders, and youth is key. The community is our eyes and ears,” he added.
At the regional level, the implementation of strengthening solidarity is evident. In Jakarta, Jakarta Metro Police Chief Inspector General Asep Ade Suheri launched a large-scale patrol program titled “Jajan Jakarta” (Guard Jakarta) to ensure residents’ safety. In West Java, the harmony between the TNI and Polri was demonstrated through the visit of the III/Siliwangi Military Commander, Major General Kosasih, to the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on August 29th. The meeting with West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan affirmed their shared commitment to maintaining stability, security, and order in the region.
“The TNI and Polri must continue to work hand in hand, not only maintaining security, but also supporting development and providing a sense of security to the community. This is a concrete manifestation of their commitment to the nation and state,” he said.
With the solidarity of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the government is optimistic that the public can return to their daily activities with peace of mind. Joint patrols, strengthened security, and the presence of officers among the public demonstrate the state’s presence and concrete efforts to protect its citizens. This commitment not only maintains stability but also builds public trust that national security and sovereignty are a shared priority.
