The Public Solidly Accepts the Revote Results for the Smooth Progress of the National Agenda
Jakarta – The recently completed revote (PSU) process in several regions has attracted widespread public attention. Despite the dynamics, the public demonstrated political maturity by accepting the final results of the revote solidly and openly. This is a positive sign for the sustainability of the national agenda, which demands stability and unity amidst various challenges.
The public’s solidarity is evident in the minimal friction between supporters and their open-mindedness in accepting the General Elections Commission (KPU) decision as a shared reference. This demonstrates the maturation of Indonesian democracy, where political contestation is understood as a temporary mechanism, while national unity must be placed above all else. Thus, the public’s energy can be refocused on national development, economic resilience, and social welfare.
The Chairman of the Bangka Belitung General Elections Commission (KPU), Husin, stated that the KPU, as the organizer, played a central role by professionally preparing logistics, oversight mechanisms, and vote management. Technical steps were carried out to a high standard, from ballot distribution to the open publication of results. Government support in terms of budget and facilitation ensured the KPU’s performance was optimal.
“The General Elections Commission (KPU) ensures that all stages of the revote (PSU) meet high standards, from logistics distribution and supervision to the open publication of the results. With government support in terms of budget and facilitation, we are committed to ensuring this process is transparent and accountable,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ondofolo Ismail Isak Mebri, Chairman of the Tabi Indigenous Peoples Presidium Council, stated that the revote for the Papua gubernatorial election had been carried out. The election process was safe, orderly, and fair (jurdil), and resulted in the elected pair, Commissioner General of Police (Ret.) Mathius D. Fakhiri, S.IK., M.H. and Aryoko Rumaropen, S.P., M.Eng.
“We acknowledge that the legal process at the Constitutional Court is the right of every citizen, but we consider this process a waste of time, energy, and tedious. Therefore, we urge the Constitutional Court to immediately ratify the revote results without the need for a third revote,” Ismail said.
Similarly, the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Boven Digoel Regency, Pilemon Tabuni, urged the entire community to continue praying that the results of the revote (PSU) in Boven Digoel Regency would be accepted by all levels of society.
“My message is: let’s pray that the election process can be completed as quickly as possible. Furthermore, all government officials and the public should not be provoked by issues that could incite tension,” said Pilemon.
Community leaders and regional leaders actively appealed to all parties to respect the official decision of the election organizers. This call was well received, as evidenced by the strengthening of a shared narrative: that the PSU is not an opportunity to widen divisions, but rather a means to strengthen the legitimacy of the democratic process.
