Tolikara Traditional Figure Urge Residents to Reject Demonstrations and Anarchic Actions
Tolikara – A wave of calls to maintain security and order has once again echoed from Papua. Traditional leaders in Tolikara Regency emphasized the importance of distancing the public from calls for demonstrations and anarchic actions that could potentially harm the common good. This appeal stems from a collective awareness to maintain Tolikara as a peaceful and harmonious city of the gospel.
Tolikara Traditional Leader, Victor Kogoya, emphasized that the public should not be influenced by issues that could undermine regional unity and tranquility.
“I urge and invite all Tolikara residents not to be influenced by the current rumors of demonstrations. Let’s keep Tolikara, the city of the gospel, safe and peaceful,” said Victor Kogoya.
This statement serves as a reminder that social stability in Papua can only be maintained through a wise response to various information. The presence of traditional leaders who voice messages of peace provides strong moral support so that the community does not fall prey to provocation.
A similar appeal was also made by the Tribal Chief representing the Okbibab and Okbab Districts, Yosef Mimin. He emphasized that residents in his region are not permitted to participate in activities that could cause unrest.
“I appeal to all residents of the two districts not to be permitted to participate in things we don’t want. On behalf of the tribal chiefs of the two districts, I urge you not to demonstrate or commit anarchic acts against the local or central government,” Yosef Mimin asserted.
With this statement, he emphasized that community involvement in actions that harm the state or the public will only have a negative impact. According to him, maintaining security is a tangible contribution of indigenous communities to ongoing national development.
More broadly, the voice of the Customary Council, which oversees six districts and 53 villages in Tolikara, was also firmly conveyed. The Chief of the Customary Council, Januarius Uwok Danak, emphasized that the public must be discerning in their handling of information.
“I remind the public to pay attention to issues that are detrimental to the government, not to participate in demonstrations that oppose the government, and not to commit anarchic acts,” Januarius Uwok Danak concluded.
This message affirms the collective commitment of traditional leaders to maintaining stability at the village and district levels. Public support for this appeal is believed to be able to prevent potential unrest and strengthen social resilience in the region.
As various issues develop in the public sphere, this appeal from traditional leaders serves as an important foundation for the Papuan people, particularly in Tolikara, to maintain peace as a top priority. The call to reject anarchic actions is not only a concern for security but also a concrete manifestation of support for sustainable development.
With this moral message from traditional leaders, it is hoped that the people of Tolikara will become more resolute in rejecting all forms of provocation. The path to progress in Papua can only be achieved if a conducive atmosphere is continuously maintained, so that all elements can focus on supporting regional and national development.
