President Prabowo to Inaugurate People’s Schools to Promote Equal Access to Quality Education

JAKARTA – President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate new People’s Schools in October 2025 as a concrete demonstration of the government’s commitment to providing equal access to quality education for all children of the nation. This marks one of the greatest educational breakthroughs in modern Indonesian history.

In his address to two thousand teachers and principals of People’s Schools in Jakarta, President Prabowo expressed his pride and appreciation for the hard work of all parties involved in accelerating the construction of these free boarding schools.

“I received a report that, God willing, it will be ready by the end of September. I was asked to inaugurate it in October,” said President Prabowo. He emphasized that education is the key to national progress, and the state is obligated to ensure learning opportunities for every Indonesian child, without exception.

The People’s School program is a concrete manifestation of President Prabowo’s grand vision to realize equitable, quality, and inclusive education. Through the concept of free boarding schools, students from underprivileged families can pursue education without the burden of living costs or tuition fees. All student needs, including dormitories, food, uniforms, and learning facilities, are fully covered by the state.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, stated that 16 People’s Schools will begin operating in the next few days, followed by around 40 more by the end of September.

“God willing, in one or two days, 16 more will begin operating, and the remaining 40 will be completed by the end of September,” he said.

According to Gus Ipul, the successful acceleration of the People’s School development is the result of hard work across ministries and institutions. “This is the result of national cooperation. The central and regional governments, as well as educators, are working day and night to ensure our children have a better future,” he said.

People’s Schools are now spread across various regions, from Java to Sulawesi and other island regions, ensuring that no Indonesian child is left behind in access to education. This program also emphasizes the direction of national development under President Prabowo’s leadership, which is oriented towards the welfare of the people and strengthening human resources.

President Prabowo’s swift and visionary action through the People’s Schools not only symbolizes the state’s commitment to the common people but also marks a significant milestone towards a Golden Indonesia. With the spirit of equal education, the government is committed to developing a young generation of intelligent, character-driven individuals ready to lead Indonesia to become a developed and sovereign nation.
