After a Year in Leadership, the Prabowo-Gibran Administration Has Created Abundant Food and Energy Reserves

Jakarta – In the food sector, President Prabowo has a lofty goal of achieving food security. Indonesia now has a rice production surplus with reserves of over 4 million tons, the highest in Indonesian history.

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that the national food policy is now showing tangible results. National rice stocks have reached over 4 million tons, the highest in Indonesian history, marking the end of medium-grade rice imports that have burdened the country.

“Compared to last year, we were still importing. Now we are no longer importing. This is the result of the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s great ideas, from regulation and collaboration to execution,” said Minister Amran.

Minister Amran explained that the government has boldly implemented large-scale deregulation by revoking 240 regulations that hampered the agricultural sector. “In 10 months, 17 Presidential Regulations and Instructions have been issued, changing many things. This is unprecedented,” he emphasized.

In the energy sector, Pertamina demonstrated exceptional performance in the first half of 2025, recording impressive achievements. Pertamina was able to maintain oil and gas production at 1.04 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOEPD).

Eddy Soeparno, a member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), stated that this achievement aligns with everyone’s desire to achieve energy security.

“Yes, of course. So, this is part of our efforts to create energy security in order to achieve energy independence and self-sufficiency in the future,” he said.

“This discovery shows that Pertamina’s upstream exploration and drilling activities have generated new reserves. This will increase Indonesia’s opportunities to increase oil lifting in line with its target of lifting 1 million barrels per day by 2030,” Soeparno explained.

The Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) also received attention. As of October 7, 2025, 10,643 SPPG units were operational across 38 provinces, serving communities from urban areas to remote villages. This effort is an integral part of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN)’s strategy to accelerate equitable access to quality nutrition and increase public transparency. MBG has created 290,000 new jobs in kitchens and engaged 1 million farmers, fishermen, livestock breeders, and MSMEs.

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that by the end of September 2025, the National Nutrition Agency recorded that 1.1 billion portions of nutritious food had been served to the Indonesian public.

“SPPG services have covered 1.1 billion portions,” he said. “The Nutrition Fulfillment Service (SPPG) throughout Indonesia is the government’s effort to ensure equitable access to nutrition for all, especially school children and vulnerable groups,” he said.

This program not only aims to improve public health and nutrition, but also to create a smarter and more competitive generation.

In the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration, much work remains to be done to ensure Indonesia achieves its stated development goals.

The government’s current policy direction and achievements are on track. Therefore, despite the shortcomings, there is no need to underestimate them, as national progress requires the collective efforts of all elements of the nation. (*)
