REFLECTIONS ON ONE YEAR OF THE PRABOWO-GIBRAN GOVERNMENT IN THE EYES OF CROSS-SECTOR FIGURES

The one-year administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has garnered a variety of appreciation from figures across sectors. Numerous religious, labor, and civil society leaders believe the current administration is demonstrating a firm direction, open to criticism, and consistent in achieving public welfare.

Rais Syuriyah PBNU, KH. Cholil Nafis, assessed that the Prabowo-Gibran administration has successfully demonstrated a strong commitment to eradicating corruption. He believes the various legal steps taken by the government are a strong signal that Indonesia is moving towards clean and transparent governance. Cholil also commended the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) as a concrete manifestation of a campaign promise that has had a direct impact on improving the nutrition of the nation’s children. He believes that although its implementation still needs improvement, the MBG is a strategic step towards producing a healthy and intelligent generation. He also welcomed the establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which he believes will improve the governance of religious worship while helping the Ministry of Religious Affairs focus more on carrying out other duties in the social and religious fields.

From the labor sector, Hermawan, Head of the National Union Confederation (KSN), also assessed that the Prabowo-Gibran administration’s first year in office has shown significant changes in the labor sector. He stated that in addition to being firm in eradicating corruption, the government has also become more open to workers’ aspirations. The intense dialogue between the government and labor unions regarding wage regulations and worker welfare is considered a step forward following the controversy that arose since the implementation of the Job Creation Law (Omnibus Law). Hermawan emphasized that this two-way communication pattern is an important foundation for strengthening trust between workers and the government. He hopes that in the future, the government will continue to improve the labor protection system, regulate outsourcing, and increase social security for workers throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Father Mikael Endro Susanto, Chairman of the Catholic Church’s Interfaith and Belief Relations Commission (HAK), praised the government’s ability to maintain political stability and interfaith harmony amidst diverse social dynamics. He assessed that President Prabowo had succeeded in creating a calm, open, and inclusive political climate, while also prioritizing a spirit of tolerance. Father Mikael also assessed that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program had directly benefited the wider community, especially in areas with low levels of prosperity. He stated that the program not only had social value but also strengthened a sense of unity among citizens through a spirit of mutual cooperation.

The Secretary General of the Confederation of Indonesian People’s Movements (KPRI), Anwar Sastro Ma’ruf, also shared his views. He assessed that President Prabowo’s first year in office demonstrated a progressive policy direction, particularly in the areas of food, nutrition, and social sovereignty. He stated that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program was a major breakthrough that should have been implemented long ago. This program not only improves children’s nutritional intake but also opens up new economic opportunities for farmers, fishermen, and local businesses. Sastro assessed that this government measure aligns with the vision of building a self-reliant and character-based nation by fostering regional food independence.

However, Sastro also emphasized the importance of in-depth evaluation of the MBG implementation to ensure it truly delivers the intended positive impact. He assessed that aspects of nutritional quality control, kitchen hygiene, and synergy between institutions such as the National Agency for National Development Planning (BGN), the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), and the Ministry of Health need to be strengthened. The government needs to increase its courage and commitment in combating corruption and food mafia practices, as there is still potential for irregularities in the field that could hinder program objectives. He also urged the government to strengthen institutional reform and public transparency so that every policy can be implemented more efficiently and measurably.

Furthermore, Sastro assessed that various economic programs, such as the construction of three million public houses and efforts to achieve national food sovereignty, demonstrate the government’s good intentions to strengthen the basis of public welfare. However, he emphasized that all these programs must be implemented with the principle of sustainability.

The four figures agreed that the first year of the Prabowo-Gibran administration has provided an important foundation towards stronger national development. The government is considered successful in maintaining political stability, increasing public trust in state institutions, and demonstrating its commitment to realizing public welfare through concrete steps. They hope that in the coming years, the Prabowo-Gibran administration can continue to maintain consistency, strengthen cross-sector collaboration, and implement policies that directly benefit all members of the community.
