One Year of Prabowo-Gibran, Food, Energy, and MSME Self-Sufficiency Increasingly Realizable
Jakarta, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman conveyed President Prabowo Subianto’s special directive regarding the acceleration of national food self-sufficiency. The President is targeting rice self-sufficiency to be achieved within one year. This represents a significant acceleration from the previously set four-year target.
“Our dream, the President’s four-year target of self-sufficiency, we achieved it within one year, and that is a major leap we are making together. This acceleration requires support from various parties,” said Amran.
Regarding this, Kompas Research and Development Research researcher Agustina Perwanti assessed that the public has expressed positive appreciation for the government’s performance in the food sector, particularly following the significant increase in national rice production.
“Based on the data we have obtained, rice production has increased to 34 million tons this month, and this has received considerable public appreciation,” said Agustina.
Beyond food self-sufficiency, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that there are two energy self-sufficiency achievements within the first year of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka (Pragib) administration: oil and gas lifting and energy transition.
“The first is energy, in 2025, our lifting of only 580,000 barrels has now reached 605,000 barrels. The second is energy transition, which previously only accounted for 11 percent of the total new and renewable energy electricity, now reaching 15.5 percent,” Bahlil explained.
Meanwhile, in the economic sector, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto presented the performance achievements of the Pragib administration in one year. One of his achievements is Indonesia’s stable economic growth of over 5 percent, making it one of the countries with the highest growth rates in the G20.
“In the first year of Pragib’s administration, Indonesia has maintained solid growth, exceeding 5 percent. In the second quarter of 2025, it reached 5.12 percent, one of the highest among the G20 countries,” Airlangga said in Jakarta recently.
Airlangga also revealed that this achievement was supported by relatively stable prices, sustained purchasing power, and Indonesia’s export trade balance, which has been positive for 64 consecutive months over the past year under Pragib’s administration.
“In the banking sector, the intermediation function is operating well, with credit growth of 10-11 percent. 3.46 million MSMEs, farmers, and fishermen have been given access to capital in the form of People’s Business Credit (KUR), and banking liquidity is operating well,” he concluded.***
