One Year of the Prabowo-Gibran Administration Proves Indonesia Can Be Self-Sufficient in the Food and Energy Sectors

The first year of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is clear evidence of decisive, swift, and people-centered leadership. In a short time, various strategic achievements have been realized, from the energy and food sectors to education. This administration demonstrates that the grand vision of a self-sufficient Indonesia is not just a promise, but is being truly realized.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, revealed two important achievements in achieving national energy self-sufficiency: increasing oil lifting and accelerating the energy transition. “The first is energy. In 2025, our lifting of only 580,000 barrels has now reached 605,000 barrels,” he said.

Furthermore, in the past year, the contribution of new and renewable energy to the national electricity total has also increased significantly. “Secondly, for the energy transition, which previously only accounted for 11 percent of total new and renewable energy, it has now reached 15.5 percent,” Bahlil continued. He emphasized that this achievement forms the initial foundation towards national energy independence, which continues to be gradually realized. The government is also expanding green investment to strengthen the foundation of a sustainable economy in the future.

In the food sector, the government’s success is also evident. Political communications analyst Hendri Satrio estimates that farmer satisfaction with government policies has reached 84 percent. The increase in the Government Purchase Price (HPP) for dry harvested grain (GKP) from IDR 5,500 to IDR 6,500 per kilogram is a strategic step that has a direct impact on improving farmer welfare.

“Indonesia’s food production is predicted to reach 35.6 million tons. Even at the UN forum, President Prabowo conveyed Indonesia’s target of becoming the world’s food barn. This is a positive signal for the future of national food security,” said Hendri.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) supports this achievement. The Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) in September 2025 reached 124.36—an increase from the previous year—indicating that farmers’ incomes grew faster than their expenses. This situation demonstrates that farmers’ welfare has improved rapidly under the Prabowo-Gibran leadership.

Beyond focusing on the energy and food sectors, this government is also placing significant emphasis on developing superior human resources through the Garuda School Program, which was launched simultaneously in 16 locations across Indonesia. This program is an educational innovation that prepares the nation’s next generation to be resilient, globally competitive, and possess strong character.

Minister of National Education Brian Yuliarto explained that Garuda School focuses on mastering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and developing the character of a warrior. “To become a warrior, students must possess a strong spirit, perseverance, and tenacity in achieving their goals. Here, they not only learn knowledge, but also learn to never give up,” he emphasized.

Through the Garuda School, the Prabowo-Gibran administration is not only producing intelligent students, but also a generation ready to face global challenges with a strong mentality and lofty aspirations for the nation.

One year into the Prabowo-Gibran administration is proof that significant change is underway. Energy self-sufficiency, food independence, and the emergence of a resilient generation are the foundations for an Indonesia that is self-sufficient, prosperous, and globally respected. With a spirit of hard work and the courage to take big steps, Indonesia is truly on the path to a glorious future.
