On Youth Pledge Day, President Prabowo Builds a Superior Generation Through People’s Schools and Millennial Farmers

Jakarta – Commemorating Youth Pledge Day, the administration of President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka affirmed its commitment to developing a superior, resilient, and competitive young generation.

Through the People’s School program and the Millennial Farmers movement, the government is opening up a wide space for young people to become key actors in national development.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf explained that People’s Schools are a concrete step towards equalizing access to education for all levels of society.

“This program is a model of social education that instills the character of empathy, mutual cooperation, and social awareness in the younger generation,” he said.

This program embodies the spirit of the Youth Pledge, which affirms national equality and unity. While in 1928 youth united through the pledge of “one nation and one language,” today’s young generation is united by the opportunity to progress together through equitable education.

Meanwhile, the President’s Special Envoy (UKP) for Youth Development and Arts Workers, Raffi Ahmad, emphasized that the government continues to encourage the empowerment of the younger generation.

Raffi also revealed that there will be new breakthroughs to improve the quality of youth by the end of this year.

“Please pray that everything will improve, especially for the younger generation. Keep up the good work. There will be breakthroughs at the end of 2025,” he concluded.

Furthermore, the spirit of youth independence and innovation is also being realized through the Millennial Farmer program.

Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that there are already 27,000 young people currently working as farmers, earning between IDR 15 million and IDR 20 million per month.

According to Amran, interest among millennials and Gen Z in the agricultural sector is increasing along with the introduction of modern technology into the agricultural system. The government is providing support in the form of agricultural facilities and equipment grants, so that young farmers can immediately start producing efficiently.

“Those from Merauke, Kalimantan, and Aceh earn an average of IDR 15 million to IDR 20 million. We provide facilities and agricultural equipment as grants to them. And God willing, this will be sustainable,” he said.

This support for the younger generation is also strengthened by the role of state-owned enterprises in the food sector.

Pupuk Indonesia President Director Rahmad Pribadi emphasized that cross-generational collaboration is a crucial part of building a national agricultural innovation ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of young people’s role in providing creative and sustainable solutions for the future of Indonesia’s food supply.

“Therefore, Pupuk Indonesia is providing ample opportunities for young talents, researchers, startups, and professionals to contribute to this target through research and technology ideas in the agriculture and food sectors,” Rahmad said.

With the spirit of this Youth Pledge, the Prabowo-Gibran administration is opening a new chapter in youth development towards a Golden Indonesia 2045. * * *
