Wary of Provocative Demonstrations, Government Urges Public to Celebrate Youth Pledge in a Conducive Manner
Ahead of the 97th Youth Pledge Day commemoration in 2025, the government, along with various elements of society, is urging all young people to maintain a safe and peaceful atmosphere.
The commemoration, which falls every October 28th, is expected to be an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of unity amidst social dynamics and the potential for provocation that could divide the nation.
The Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian National Youth Committee (DPP KNPI), Dr. Ali Hanapiah, M.Si., emphasized the importance of the role of young people as guardians of national stability.
“We support the steps taken by the National Police (Polri) deemed necessary to maintain the security and integrity of the nation, in line with the President’s directives in handling the current situation,” he said.
He urged that the Youth Pledge moment be an opportunity to strengthen solidarity among the nation’s future generations.
“Let’s realize the spirit of unity for the sake of the nation and country we love. As young people, we have a great responsibility to maintain harmony and prevent division,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, Ali Hanapiah stated that the Indonesian National Youth Committee (KNPI) is fully committed to supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita program.
He also instructed all KNPI Regional Leadership Councils (DPD) in Indonesia to be at the forefront of maintaining a conducive atmosphere in every region.
“Youth must reject all forms of provocation that seek to divide the people and the authorities. Together, we will create an advanced, safe, and prosperous Indonesia—not a return to difficult times,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, emphasized the importance of collaboration between regional governments and youth organizations to strengthen social stability.
He explained that safe and controlled regional conditions contribute to increased investment and economic growth.
“Youth organizations have a strategic role in maintaining a conducive atmosphere and helping the government reduce extreme poverty,” he said.
He is committed to continuing to involve youth organizations in the formulation of social and economic policies, so that synergy between the government and the community can be strengthened.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) has released national guidelines for the 2025 Youth Pledge commemoration.
With the theme “Youth on the Move, Indonesia Unites,” the government encourages the public to celebrate with a spirit of togetherness and peace.
In the guidelines, Kemenpora urges all regions, educational institutions, and youth organizations to organize various positive activities.
“This commemoration is not just about remembering, but about mobilizing. We want youth to be the main agents of change,” Kemenpora wrote in its official guidelines.**
