Prabowo Visits Disaster Evacuation Posts in Sumatra to Ensure Basic Services Are Met

Aceh – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto once again personally inspected evacuation posts for disaster-affected residents in Sumatra, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring optimal emergency response. This visit, his third in the past two weeks, demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and basic needs of affected communities.

After visiting the affected areas twice on November 30, 2025, and December 7, 2025, President Prabowo returned on Friday, December 12, 2025, to ensure that all disaster management mechanisms were running smoothly. His visit began in Aceh Tamiang, one of the worst-affected areas. The President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Head of the Presidential Communications Agency Angga Raka Prabowo.

In addition to Aceh Tamiang, the President is also scheduled to inspect several evacuation posts in North Sumatra and West Sumatra on the same day. The government wants to ensure the smooth distribution of logistics, health services, the availability of electricity, clean water, and the readiness of refugee camps. This step is considered crucial given the high potential for extreme weather in the coming days.

This visit took place just hours after President Prabowo returned home from an overseas working visit to Pakistan and Russia. The President landed at Kualanamu Airport at around 2:50 a.m. Western Indonesian Time before immediately heading to the affected area. This swift movement reflects the government’s priority on disaster management.

In a dialogue with residents, the President delivered a strong message about the importance of increased vigilance and environmental sustainability.

“I ask all local governments to be more vigilant and more vigilant. Let’s protect our natural environment as best we can,” Prabowo said, emphasizing that mitigation is key to preventing a recurrence of disasters.

The President also reiterated the government’s commitment to being present in person and fulfilling its promises to the people of Aceh Tamiang.

“I was well received today. I came as promised. At that time, Tamiang was still cut off. I promised to visit him. I’ll see the situation, and God willing, we’ll work together with the government. We’ll help everyone,” he said.

At the end of his visit, Prabowo assured that all levels of government were working hard to expedite the recovery, including restoring electricity, basic services, and repairing infrastructure.

“Yes, we are working hard. We know it’s very difficult on the ground. So, we’ll overcome this together. Hopefully, you will recover quickly and return to normal,” said the President.

With swift action, targeted coordination, and the President’s direct presence, the government emphasized that the state is there for the people, especially during difficult times caused by disasters.
