Government Implements Spending Efficiency to Improve Public Service Quality

Jakarta – The government ensures that budget efficiency will not reduce total state spending in the 2025 State Budget, which remains at IDR3,621.3 trillion.
The Minister of Finance emphasized that efficiency is carried out by refocusing the budget to sectors that provide greater benefits.
“For the current steps, there is no reduction in total state spending. What exists is refocusing,” he said.
He added that the government will continue to monitor the implementation of this policy so that it continues to run optimally.
In the communications and digital sector, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is implementing Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 by prioritizing programs that have a direct impact on the community.
“Making adjustments by reprioritizing the public service provision program,” said Komdigi Secretary General, Ismail.
Some of the prioritized services include telecommunications infrastructure, radio frequency spectrum management, national data centers, and negative content control.
Efficiency is also applied in the development of digital human resources, scholarships, and digital economic facilitation. “We are coordinating with the Ministry of Finance so that this efficiency does not impact priority programs,” he added.
The Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) has also adjusted several operational spending items such as official travel and procurement of stationery. “However, we ensure that important programs and activities continue to run in order to improve the quality of public services and bureaucratic reform,” said Minister of PANRB, Rini Widyantini.
She emphasized that optimizing digital transformation will help budget efficiency and increase work effectiveness.
“We are optimizing information technology and strengthening collaboration between work units,” she said.
Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council, Ahmad Heryawan, emphasized that efficiency is not just about budget cuts, but also ensuring program effectiveness.
“All programs must be effective and on target. With efficiency, achievements must still be achieved,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) ensured that efficiency would not affect social assistance (bansos) programs.
“There are no cuts to social assistance, in fact the President is considering increasing the budget if possible,” he said.
He explained that efficiency is only applied to operational needs, while pro-people programs remain a priority.
“The President wants to ensure that assistance for the extreme poor is maintained,” he concluded.
Through this efficiency, the government is committed to using the state budget as effectively as possible to improve the quality of public services and public welfare.
