Banten Regional Police, Indonesia, Investigates Poaching Case of Protected Javan Rhino in Ujung Kulon National Park

Jakarta – The Banten Regional Police are still developing a case of hunting for protected Javan rhinoceroses in the Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK). Currently, the police have named 5 people on the wanted list (WL).
The determination of this WL is the result of developments after the Regional Police arrested Sunendi alias Nendi as the head of the Javanese rhino hunting group at TNUK. Sunendi’s case is currently in the trial process at the Pandeglang District Court (PN).
Two other suspects, namely Yogi, acted as intermediaries in the sale of rhino horn to suspect Liem Hoo Kwan Willy alias Willy, a resident of North Jakarta.
“From the entire series of cases, there are still 5 [-WL], which we are still carrying out a series of investigations, namely their role together with brother N or Nendi in carrying out wild animal hunting in TNUK,” said Banten Regional Police Deputy Director General AKBP Dian Setyawan, Friday (26/7/2024).
The Banten Regional Police are not stopping whether there are other groups besides the Sunendi leadership that are hunting Javan rhinos.
“The only person arrested was N, who could be said to be the head of another group, and a series of investigations are still being carried out,” he concluded. [p-topic]
